Logan Stanley’s Biography

Hello, there! My name is Logan Stanley and I'm a 28-year-old graduate student in the Sports Journalism Master of Arts program at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Currently, I am a sports reporter for The State Press, ASU’s independent, student-led newspaper.

I also am the Editor of MileSplit Arizona, covering cross country and track and field throughout the state.

I graduated from Eastern Washington University in June 2018 with my B.A. in Journalism News Editorial and a minor in History. From July 2018 to January 2019, I completed a six-month reporting internship with The Olympian in Olympia, Washington. During my internship, I covered local news and prep sports. My work was also featured in The Tacoma News Tribune, The Olympian's sister newspaper. The internship was funded by a grant from the Pacific Northwest Newspaper Association.

After my internship ended, I moved back to Sonoma County to establish a freelance reporting career. I have worked as a correspondent for MileSplit USA, covering high school cross country and track & field for the website. During my time as a freelancer, I have also written for publications such as The Press Democrat, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The Marin Independent Journal and The Napa Valley Register, covering a variety of sports at the high school level.

I aspire eventually to be an NFL beat reporter at a daily newspaper in the future. As well as print and digital media, I would like to host a weekly podcast and produce feature-length documentaries. Eventually, I hope to write a book. Journalism is my passion, and has been since I first entered the field as a student in 2015.
