“Justice 4 Jane Doe” rallies students
Macalester students took to the Great Lawn on Thursday, Oct. 8, as part of nationwide protests demanding justice for Jane Doe and other survivors of sexual violence. The event was organized by the Macalester Survivors Solidarity Collective (MSSC), previously known as the Womxn’s Solidarity Collective. The event aimed to show solidarity with Cornell University student Jane Doe, who is pursuing charges against a group of men she says drugged and gang-raped her at the Chi Phi fraternity house in 2024.

I have heard Florence Welch’s sound described as “music for insane women” — a fitting description of the witchy and enchanting journey audiences embarked on during the “Everybody Scream” tour. Bounding to the stage barefoot and swaying in a quintessential Florencestyle draped and lacey dress, Welch opened to the tour’s titular song “Everybody Scream,” causing the audience to do just that as she opened the tour’s North American leg.

Categories: April 9, 2026 In early March, Macalester’s Ethics Bowl team travelled to St. Louis to compete in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl National Championship. The six-student team finished the competition fifth in the nation. Mac competitors progressed through five distinct rounds of competition across two days, ultimately being succeeded by the College of William & Mary’s team, who went on to claim the national title, in the quarterfinal round.

The Macalester community celebrated Founding Day on Friday, March 6, bringing food trucks, carnival games and Pushball, a 100-plus-year-old campus tradition, to Shaw Field.
