Monroe Energy fire still under investigation

Smoke billowed from the fire at the Monroe Energy Refinery in Trainer, prompting concerns from people in the immediate area and alarming people in nearby Delaware and New Jersey who could easily see the smoke. A fire at the Monroe Energy refinery in Trainer on June 25 injured three people and prompted emergency officials to issue a temporary shelter-inplace order for nearby residents. According to company officials, the fire broke out at around 11:30 a.m. in a process unit pump room.

Longtime Chester High School football coach Joe Carroll died at the age of 79. Longtime Chester High School football coach Joe Carroll, 79, died on June 17 surrounded by his family. A revered coach and teacher, Carroll spent 36 years as a Health and Physical Education teacher in the Chester- Upland and West Chester Area school districts and spent 27 of those years as a head football coach.
