But before making a snap judgment, nutrition experts recommend taking a closer look at the science, focusing on the context, and understanding the numerous health benefits that fruit can provide.

For years, protein has dominated the nutrition conversation, with people closely tracking how many grams they need and consume each day. As of late, however, fiber has started to claim more of the spotlight. But rather than approaching it focused strictly on daily gram targets, many are embracing “fibermaxxing,” a wellness trend centered on packing more fiber into their diets in pursuit of better gut health, satiety, and overall well-being.

With many conversations centering on protein as of late, one of the questions I often hear is, “Do I need protein during my workout?” It makes sense if you understand protein’s role in muscle health, but the answer may not be what you expect.
