Spatial transcriptomics reveals dysregulated biological process in ALS mouse models with sod1 mutation
Abstract Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. It is often associated with specific genetic mutations, such as Sod1 genes. However, the exact mechanism by which Sod1 leads to ALS remains unclear. We used a spatial transcriptomic (ST) technique called Stereo-seq to analyze the molecular changes during the progression of ALS.

Why Your Light-Switch Is Secretly Day-Trading (and CAISO Is the Broker)
Spoiler: every time you brew coffee, you trigger an auction worthy of Wall Street — only the commodity is electrons, not GameStop. Electricity begins life in improbable places: Sun-bathed deserts (solar farms) Wind-whipped ridges (turbines) Ancient magma chambers (geothermal plants) The occasional, decidedly un-Instagrammable natural-gas peaker that revs up when Netflix drops a new season of Bridgerton All those generators pour juice onto high-voltage “freeways” called the transmission grid.
AI Is Just the Latest Tool: A 300,000-Year Human Beta Test
In 1876, people genuinely feared the telephone would end face-to-face conversations forever. In the 1990s, the internet was labeled “a passing fad.” And today, everyone’s favorite existential dread comes courtesy of ChatGPT — stealing your job, your partner, and maybe even your dog. But guess what? This isn’t humanity’s first rodeo with disruptive tech. If history has taught us anything, it’s that we’re hilariously bad at predicting technological outcomes — but surprisingly good at adapting anyway.
