Marion County father charged with murder in infant son's death after shaken baby syndrome ruling

A Marion County man has been charged with murder in the death of his infant son, two years after the child's death was ruled a homicide. James Westervelt, 36, was already in jail for child abuse following the death of his 6-month-old son in August 2024. Marion County deputies were called to a home that month for an unresponsive infant. The child was taken to the hospital, placed on life support, and died days later.

New details released after woman shot at Orange County bus stop

A 70-year-old woman was shot Monday at a bus stop on Egan Drive in Orange County and remains hospitalized in critical condition. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has since told WESH 2 they believe the suspect, who is still on the loose, has left the area.Exclusive video from Chopper 2 showed deputies searching the area for evidence as investigators worked to determine what led to the shooting.

Winter Garden police sergeant charged with stalking, cyberstalking appears in court

Bryan Stubbs, a Winter Garden police sergeant who was arrested on charges of stalking and cyberstalking, including using a tracking device to invade a woman's privacy, appeared in an Orange County courtroom Wednesday. "Probable cause was found for the offense of using a tracking device to invade someone's privacy on count one," the judge said during the hearing.
