The Tony Award-winning musical comedy, based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, will open at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre on 16 September for a limited season running through to 11 October. Produced by Drew Anthony Creative, the production features a book and lyrics by Monty Python’s Eric Idle and a score by Idle and John Du Prez.

Cat Power to perform The Greatest in full at the Royal Botanic Gardens

The Melbourne date lands as part of Live at the Gardens on 3 December, presented by MG Live, Love Police and Triple R. Across the night, Cat Power will play The Greatest from front to back, joined by tracks pulled from a catalogue that reaches back three decades. Recorded in Memphis with members of the Hi Rhythm section, The Greatest saw Chan Marshall, who records as Cat Power, lean into a warm soul sound and bend it to her own shape.
