What was your first job as a journalist?
Internship - The Legislative Gazette covering NYS legislature. Job - Food Merchants Advocate covering food retail and manufacturing.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. I have.
How is social media changing news?
The Good: News cycle is faster; real-time news The bad: pushing fake news and rushed news
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I really like speculative fiction. There isn't one favorite. I really like the genre as a whole.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
I get to educate people on matters of interest and help others learn new information. I get to humanize ideas, topics, products, brands.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email is ok. But I'd prefer text or DM.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Any word editing, photo editing SEO tools and social media tools I can use on a mobile and laptop. Proficient in all so doesn't matter which.

Why did you become a journalist?
Because I've always loved to write. Becuase I always wanted to uncover truth and be creative.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
That would be the Most Influential Women In Tech package that I worked on for Fast Company for a number of years.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't take no for an answer. If you have an idea and youre really passionate about it just learn how it can work for different publications.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime really. Have mobile. WIll answer.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
Can't say I've really ever gotten a bad pitch. I've gotten pitches that have nothing to do with the topics I write about or have knowledge of
What's your favorite drink?
1) Any fruit/veggie smoothie combo 2) coconut water
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Teaching. Dancing. At the movies. At the museum. Reading a book. But no really, I'm always at the computer.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I really like tech publications. Anything tech. I love long-form journalism.
