South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. A drier and hotter weather pattern returns to the South Plains by the middle of this week. High temperatures expected to climb into the 80s and strong winds from the Southwest. Elevated to critical fire weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday.

Breezy and more humid conditions on Thursday. 20% chance of strong storms mainly to the northwest. Hail up to quarter size and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Skies in Lubbock are expected to stay mostly cloudy through this afternoon. Hazardous weather pattern is settling into the South Plains on Friday through the weekend. Storms possibly becoming widespread on Friday and Saturday. heavy rainfall could increase the risk of localized flooding.

Temperatures will be seasonable today after a chilly weekend, warming into the 60s and 70s by afternoon. Southerly surface winds are expected to be breezy in the Texas Panhandle. Combined with low humidity and dry fuels, this creates elevated fire danger this afternoon. The return of mid-level moisture will bring more cloud cover by Tuesday morning. Tuesday will see increased chances for showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms. The risk of severe weather will be low.
