MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — In many different spots around New York City, it was a post-Pride Parade after-party to remember. Atop the Arlo Nomad Hotel in Midtown, in the shadow of the Empire State Building, the drinks were flowing and the music was inviting. But those celebrating were also remembering the decades of struggle for gay rights. “There was a time where teachers were in danger of losing their jobs because they were gay,“ Paul Ducett, a Pride marcher, told PIX11 News.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (PIX11) – New York City this weekend is a sea of rainbows and purple pride. But this Pride weekend is not without the usual controversy. At the start of Pride Weekend, people from all over the world come to the Stonewall Inn to celebrate at the birthplace of the Pride movement, but there were also so many events across the city as well. The kickoff to Pride weekend in New York City each year is a concert on the TSQ Live stage.

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) — What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than to see a dance performance celebrating fathers and their heritage? The program is called Legacy In Motion. More than 90 dancers ages 3 to 18 from the Asase Yaa School of the Arts performed in their 14th annual recital here at Hunter College’s Kaye Playhouse. And there were so many forms of performance here from West African drumming to classical, hip-hop, rap and contemporary dance.
