Flooding rains possible for portions of the tri-state area
NEW YORK (PIX11) — A period of heavy rainfall is possible for Thursday and Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. A low-pressure system and cold front will move through the area, which may cause local flooding, especially over poor drainage areas. According to forecasters, precipitation is expected to be heaviest over northwest New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley, where up to 3 inches of rain is possible.

(TestMiles) – NHTSA has widened a federal GM brake investigation to 1.16 million vehicles after 745 incidents, but this is not yet a recall. A federal investigation into General Motors’ eBoost braking system has become dramatically larger, moving from a narrow look at one model to an Engineering Analysis covering an estimated 1,164,820 vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened Engineering Analysis EA26006 on Aug. 21, 2026.
Two injured in early morning shooting in Astoria: NYPD
ASTORIA, Queens (PIX11) — Two men were shot in Astoria early Wednesday morning, according to the NYPD. The incident happened around 1:34 a.m. near 28-36 Steinway Street. Police say a 21-year-old man was shot in the right leg and a 19-year-old man was shot in the right arm and left leg. The two victims were taken to a local hospital by private means in stable condition, police say. Police are looking for multiple men they say were dressed in dark clothing and wearing ski masks.
