HOUSTON — Two shootings involving teenagers in less than two days across the Greater Houston area are renewing conversations about gun safety and the importance of secure firearm storage. In The Woodlands, a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed inside a home Thursday morning. Montgomery County Sheriff's Office investigators said the shooting appeared to be accidental. A 17-year-old was later arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide. This story continues below.

'My daughter was true to herself' | Family, advocates seek answers after woman's body found near Brays Bayou

KHOU Family, friends and advocates gathered Wednesday evening to honor the life of Persia Amarra Conway and call for justice after her body was found near Brays Bayou last week. The vigil, held at the Montrose Center, brought together loved ones, community leaders and members of Houston's LGBTQ+ community to remember Conway and support her family as they search for answers. According to Houston police, Conway's body was discovered on Memorial Day inside a stormwater catch basin near Brays Bayou.
