Marie Carter-Robb’s Biography

Marie Carter-Robb is a UK journalist, editor, conservationist and animal welfare campaigner based in rural northern England.

She is the Founder and Editor of Pets Magazine (petsmag.co.uk), a leading independent digital publication covering companion animals, wildlife, conservation and ethical pet ownership. Through journalism, publishing and advocacy, she has spent almost three decades exploring the relationship between people, animals and the natural world.

Marie's work has appeared across national and international media, including The Guardian, The Independent, the Daily Express, Country Life, BBC platforms and Sky News. Her reporting and commentary span conservation, wildlife protection, animal welfare, countryside issues, health, lifestyle and ethical travel.

She is the founder of Pet Remembrance Day, launched in 2015 and now recognised internationally as a day for people to remember and celebrate beloved pets who have passed away.

In 2025, she founded Save Our Reds (saveourreds.uk), a national conservation campaign dedicated to securing a future for Britain's endangered red squirrel. What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a nationally recognised movement supported by more than 80,000 people, helping drive debate around habitat protection, forestry policy and species recovery. In 2026, she also established Save Our Reds Day to coincide with Endangered Species Day.

Alongside her editorial and campaigning work, Marie hosts The Pets Mag Podcast, interviewing leading voices from the worlds of animal welfare, conservation and public life. Guests have included Peter Egan, Lady Colin Campbell, veterinarians, authors, campaigners and charity leaders.

She is also the author of Little Red: Warrior Squirrel, the first in a planned series of children's books inspired by Britain's red squirrels and the wider importance of protecting native wildlife.

Her work focuses on wildlife conservation, animal welfare, environmental advocacy and the future of the British countryside.
