Mixing fire and water never seemed like a good idea to me. I never even cared for the then-popular flame paint jobs on performance boats, that while intimating excitement and speed, seemed ill-planned or ill-fated. When I heard that ACR, an electronics firm that is known for promoting and providing safety and survival equipment for marine and adventure sports using Emergency Position Indicator Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), was bringing electronic flares to the marine industry, I applauded.
