Op-ed: Albany proved persistence can pay off. Now it must show fiscal discipline.
Weeks after the New York state budget was finalized, the full picture has come into focus. Serious long-term fiscal instability remains, but one thing is clear: This year marked a turning point for several policies we have urged Albany to adopt for years.
Hurricane Maria: Response & Live Updates
We are working around the clock to help the people of Puerto Rico recover from Hurricanes Maria and Irma. We set up a website that will let anyone stateside (regardless of carrier) to register the cell phone number of a family member or friend who is an AT&T wireless customer in Puerto Rico. When the Puerto Rico-based customer’s cell phone connects to our network in Puerto Rico, the customer will be notified that their family or friends in the U.S. have been trying to contact them.
Hurricane Irma: Response & Live Updates
We’re working hard to keep our business customers connected as Hurricane Irma continues north. To help in this difficult time, we have launched several voice, data and internet offers for those impacted in Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Go here to find out more. We’ll continue to assess the impact on customers in additional locations.
Hurricane Irma: Response & Live Updates
Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Irma. Beginning Sept. 6 and running through at least Sept. 10 we’re providing unlimited data, calls and texts via bill credits for AT&T wireless and unlimited calls and texts for AT&T PREPAID customers.
Another Voice: Get it straight on the dangers of distracted driving

It is a time when more people take to the roads and sidewalks and revel in warmer weather. Despite the vibrant colors of the flowers, the sound of children playing outdoors, April is also Distracted Driving Awareness Month – a month in which we also face the grim reminder that distracted driving is as dangerous as ever.
Drivers, get this message: It can wait!

AT&T Educates Motorists On Dangers Of Texting While Driving
When you're driving and your phone makes that familiar "ding" sound, what do you do? Sadly, that's a life or death question. Every day, nine Americans die from distracted driving such as texting and checking their phones. In New York state alone, there's an 840 percent increase in tickets issued for texting while driving since 2011. How come? Because some drivers don't believe It Can Wait. It Can Wait is the name of AT&T's campaign to educate motorists on the dangers of texting while driving.
NY Slant
Students graduating from a job re-training program on Staten Island this week are the embodiment of how New York can sustain its recovery from the worst financial crisis in our lifetimes. Just take graduate Prince-Michael Lewis, a 25–year-old who, a few months ago, was earning $10 an hour packaging and shipping items for an online retailer. Today, he’s qualified to get a job designing that website himself that pays six times that amount.

Fariña & Shorenstein: How NYC is teaching girls to code
As a mother and a grandmother — and as women who’ve strived for success in the business and education worlds — we want our girls and young women to go out into the world knowing they can do anything. In today’s technology-driven economy, an important part of that is giving them the skills, support, and confidence to pursue education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
