James Brown is the Right Choice for the Montana Supreme Court
During the 2021 legislative session, our Legislature passed historic legislation that all Montanans can be proud of. We cut taxes, defended our freedoms from government overreach, protected the unborn, secured our elections, and much more. Republicans from all across Montana came to Helena for the 67th legislative session with a clear and resounding mandate from Montana voters to pass these bills and we are proud to report that we did it.

Legislative Achievements
During the first half of the 67th Montana Legislature, the Republican majority logged important achievements, keeping the promises we made to our constituents. We tackled the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing the first hybrid session in Montana history. This hybrid model allowed both legislators and the public to participate remotely. Our COVID-19 Response Panel hired a dedicated contact tracer and implemented testing protocols.

Changing House rules will weaken checks, balances
As former House speakers and Senate presidents of the Montana Legislature, we question the wisdom of making significant changes to the rules of operation in the Montana House. Currently, there is a group of legislators trying to change the House rules. One of the proposed changes would allow a simple majority (51 members) to “blast” a bill out of committee and on to the House floor. Their logic is that the Montana Senate operates under simple majority rules so the House should follow suit.
