Effectiveness of Comics as a Medium for Disaster Preparedness for Earthquakes and Landslides
This study examined the effectiveness of using comics as an educational medium for enhancing disaster preparedness among residents in a landslide-prone barangay in the Mati City, Davao Oriental, Philippines. Employing a pretest-posttest design without a control group, the study involved 195 randomly selected respondents who read a Cebuano-language comic about landslide and earthquake preparedness.
Facilitators and barriers to participation and scale-up of a non-specialist delivered psychological intervention for adolescents in low-resourced settings: a process evaluation | BMC Public Health | Full Text
The thematic analysis resulted in five themes and six sub-themes, illustrated in Fig. 1. Identified themes and subthemes The majority of adolescents and caregivers indicated that taking part in EASE was a positive experience. Caregivers noticed changes in their mood and parenting skills. One caregiver completer (CC) in particular felt an impact on her level of experienced anxiety.
Development and psychometric evaluation of the Brief Parenting Questionnaire - BMC Psychology
The development and validation of the 24-item Brief Parenting Questionnaire (BPQ) addresses the need for brief, culturally grounded, and psychometrically sound parenting measures for use in low-resource settings. Using a rigorous, stepwise methodology similar to that advocated by van Ommeren and colleagues [40], we first sought to ensure the comprehensibility, acceptability, relevance, and translatability of all items with Arabic-speaking Syrians in Lebanon.

Evaluation of urinary density as a biomarker for the diagnosis of acute heart failure
The number of female patients who were diagnosed with HF was higher than the number of males in previous studies, and the incidence of HF increases with age, exceeding 10% for those who are aged 70 and over (McDonagh et al., 2021; Kaluzna-Oleksy & Jankowska, 2019). Similarly, the mean age of HF patients was 74.0 ± 9.6 in the present study and the number of female patients was higher than that of males.
A new clinical index scale for measuring secondary alveolar bone grafting success based on canine eruption
To develop a reproducible, reliable clinical index of alveolar bone grafting (ABG) outcome based on the eruption position of the cleft canine tooth and determine the association between eruption position and radiographic outcome at 6 months post-grafting. Children with complete, non-syndromic, unilateral/bilateral cleft lip and palate in the West of Scotland were identified.

Validation of Arabic versions of the child psychosocial distress screener and pediatric symptom checklist for young adolescents living in vulnerable communities in Lebanon | International Journal of Mental Health Systems
Abstract In humanitarian settings, brief screening instruments for child psychological distress have potential to assist in assessing prevalence, monitoring outcomes, and identifying children and adolescents in most need of scarce resources, given few mental health professionals for diagnostic services. Yet, there are few validated screening tools available, particularly in Arabic.
Prevalence of depression and associated symptoms among patients attending primary healthcare facilities: a cross-sectional study in Nepal - BMC Psychiatry
This study was conducted as part of the Emilia (E-mhGAP Intervention guide in Low and middle-income countries: proof-of-concept for Impact and Acceptability) project, funded by UK Medical Research Council. The project aims to develop and test the feasibility and acceptability of a mobile-app-based clinical guide to improve the detection of depression in primary care [11].
NASA Explorers: Season 5, Episode 1
These are our explorers. They're the people who will get us to the Moon, collect Moon rocks, deliver them to Earth safely, and ensure that we can study them for years to come. On episode one of “NASA Explorers: Artemis Generation," meet astronaut Jessica Watkins, engineer Adam Naids, Moon rock curator Julie Mitchell, and astrobiologist Jose Aponte.
Case Report: A severe case of immunosuppressant-refractory immune checkpoint inhibitor-mediated colitis rescued by tofacitinib
1 Introduction Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1), programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen-4 (CTLA-4), have become a mainstay in the treatment of several cancers, and achieve their effect by restoring the immunological response against tumor cells (1).
Feasibility randomised controlled trial of the Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions psychological intervention with young adolescents in Lebanon - BMC Psychiatry
At the end of 2021, almost 90 million people were forcibly displaced; 27 million refugees, and more than 40% children [1]. Throughout 2022, this figure has increased to more than 100 million [1]. Armed conflict is a major driver of displacement and has a huge impact on mental health and wellbeing of populations.
Implementation strategy in collaboration with people with lived experience of mental illness to reduce stigma among primary care providers in Nepal (RESHAPE): protocol for a type 3 hybrid implementation effectiveness cluster randomized controlled trial |
Background and rationale There continues to be a major gap globally between the number of people living with mental illnesses and the number of people receiving minimally adequate treatment. In the USA and other high-income countries, approximately 1 out of 5 persons receive minimally adequate care for depression [1].
Applicability Domain of Polyparameter Linear Free Energy Relationship Models Evaluated by Leverage and Prediction Interval Calculation
1. Introduction Equilibrium partition coefficients largely determine the environmental distribution of organic contaminants and are crucial parameters for environmental risk assessments. Among various models, the linear solvation energy relationships (LSERs) (1) or, generally, polyparameter linear free energy relationships (PP-LFERs) that use Abraham’s solute descriptors have been confirmed to be accurate and robust for predicting partition coefficients.
Moving from Protection to Prosperity: Evolving the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the next 50 years
The EPA’s Success of the Past 50 Years The U.S. EPA was founded in 1970 during a time of political tumult and societal schisms marked by polarization and mass protests in the streets of America. Mathematical gauge theory : with applications to the standard model of particle physics
The Standard Model is the foundation of modern particle and high energy physics. This book explains the mathematical background behind the Standard Model, translating ideas from physics into a mathematical language and vice versa. The first part of the book covers the mathematical theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras, fibre bundles, connections, curvature and spinors.
