Prognostic biomarkers for enhanced risk stratification in extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma: a retrospective cohort study
Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma (EMC) is a rare subtype of mesenchymal tumor, accounting for fewer than 3% of all soft-tissue sarcomas. It primarily affects adults between 30 and 70 years of age and most commonly arises in the deep soft tissues of the thigh or trunk.

Diagnostic and prognostic implications of growth differentiation factor 15 in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: a systematic review and meta-analysis
In this systematic review and meta-analysis, a total of 5,696 HFpEF patients were included from 28,193 participants. GDF-15 levels were significantly higher in the HFpEF patients compared to the control group of the non-HF population. GDF-15 has a good diagnostic accuracy in diagnosing HFpEF and appears to be slightly superior compared to conventional biomarkers.
Survival analysis in breast cancer: evaluating ensemble learning techniques for prediction
Breast cancer is fatal disease and the rate of the disease is increasing day by day (Bray et al., 2018). Although there has been an enormous amount of studies about breast cancer and much made progress, it is still one of the leading causes of death amongst women. Yet, around 40% of cases can be preventable according to breast cancer statistics report (World Cancer Research Fund/American Institute for Cancer Research, 2018).

Work experience - The Student Room
Hello! Does anyone know if google London takes students under 16s for work experience? I have to find my placement for next year and inform my teacher by July, 2018. Thank you for your comments.
Prevalence of obstructive coronary artery disease and prognosis in patients with stable symptoms and a zero-coronary calcium score
Computed tomography has become a cost-effective, mainstream technique for excluding coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with stable symptoms.1–3 Non-contrast CT calcium scoring (CTCS) allows detection and quantification of coronary artery calcification (CAC), but CT coronary angiogram (CTCA) is required for imaging of calcified and non-calcified plaques as well as quantification of luminal stenoses.4 Often both techniques are performed sequentially.
Implantable cardioverter defibrillators for primary prevention of death in left ventricular dysfunction with and without ischaemic heart disease: a meta-analysis of 8567 patients in the 11 trials | European Heart Journal | Oxford Academic
Implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD) are established as preventing death in patients with left ventricular dysfunction and ischaemic heart disease (IHD).1 In patients without IHD, however, ICDs are already considered controversial,2 and recent trial data have been interpreted as indicating that they are not beneficial.3 We set out to analyse the totality of RCT data of ICD vs. no ICD therapy in primary prevention of mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction.
Fractional flow reserve by computerized tomography and subsequent coronary revascularization
Previous observations demonstrated the need for improved risk stratification and increased yield of patients who undergo invasive coronary angiography and subsequent revascularization.1 Mounting evidence over recent years supports the use of coronary computerized tomography angiography (coronary CTA) as an attractive non-invasive approach that may fulfil this gatekeeper role.2,3 However, coronary artery calcium (CAC) significantly reduces the diagnostic specificity4,5 and overall accuracy6 of...
Cost of anatomical testing similar to that of functional diagnostics for detection of coronary artery disease
Recently published findings showed the cost of anatomical testing was similar to that of functional diagnostic testing for the detection of coronary artery disease. “[In] a large cohort of outpatients with stable chest pain referred for stress testing, we found similar net costs for the [computed tomography angiography] CTA and functional stress testing strategies out to 90 days,” Daniel B. Mark, MD, MPH, professor of medicine at Duke University Medical Center, and colleagues wrote.
Relative clinical and economic impact of exercise echocardiography vs. exercise electrocardiography, as first line investigation in patients without known coronary artery disease and new stable angina: a randomized prospective study | European Heart Journ
Chest pain of recent onset accounts for over 500 000 outpatient appointments per year in the UK.1 Most hospitals offer a Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic (RACPC) service to evaluate such patients.
