With the World Series beginning on Tuesday night, we asked MLB Network analysts Mark DeRosa and Sean Casey to give us their impressions and predictions on what is sure to be — no matter the winner — a momentous end to baseball’s postseason. Mark DeRosa Case, I gotta admit, the other night while I was watching the Cubs celebrate, I started getting pretty emotional. My wife looked over at me and said, “You want to cry?â€? 5 habits of highly effective government power users
In an April article for FCW, I provided tips on how government stakeholders can get the most out of their power users. Simply stated, stakeholders need and ask for data, and power users prepare and deliver the requested data. Now I would like to expand the conversation a bit and focus on the power users themselves. Over the years, I have been on both sides of the fence.

With the All-Star break approaching, we asked current MLB Network analysts Mark DeRosa and Sean Casey to sit down and just talk baseball. The result was not your usual MLB first-half recap. Alright, let’s just get this one out of the way at the jump: Should pitchers be allowed to compete in the Home Run Derby? I threw a hard stance at it a few weeks ago that it’s a no-go because I was tired of hearing about it. But I do love Madison Bumgarner and he can hit absolute tanks. Taaaaanks.
Making the most of your power user
The business of government includes the business of data. But to work with data effectively, agencies must first be able to produce it. A typical data request, which is often submitted by a stakeholder, goes through an organization's IT shop. A couple of weeks are spent gathering requirements. Then, after numerous iterations of design, development, testing and reviews, the report is ready weeks or months later.
