I am a reporter for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution covering DeKalb County government. I write about corruption, the metro Atlanta cityhood movement, business growth, tax incentives, government spending and local politics.
Before taking on the DeKalb County beat in May 2014, I covered Atlanta Public Schools for the AJC for more than a year. Stories included the indictments of 35 educators for allegedly cheating on standardized tests, charter schools, spending for public education and the recovery of a school system in crisis.
I worked at The Fulton Daily Report legal newspaper from September 2011 to January 2013 as a copy editor and a reporter covering courts in DeKalb County and Gwinnett County.
Over nearly a decade, I was a reporter for The Associated Press in the Honolulu, Atlanta and Montgomery, Ala., bureaus. Beats included the Hawaii Legislature and governor, Native Hawaiian sovereignty efforts, courts, renewable energy and general assignment.
In between AP assignments, I worked for nearly a year at The Santiago Times as an editor. The English-language online newspaper covered Chilean government, human rights and business.
I graduated from the University of Georgia with an ABJ in Newspapers in 2000.
