Chlor-vinyls producer Vynova Belgium (Tessenderlo) has acquired the assets of its bankrupt sister company Vynova Beek in the Netherlands, according to a customer letter dated June 12, amid a broader plan to restart polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production at Beek by October. Vynova Belgium subsequently confirmed the veracity of the letter to Platts on June 16.

LyondellBasell to close Brindisi PP plant by end of 2026 – reports

LyondellBasell Industries NV (Houston) intends to close its remaining polypropylene (PP) plant at Brindisi, Italy, by the end of this year, according to local media reports. The company previously shut down its other PP plant in Brindisi at the end of 2023. LyondellBasell announced the plans at the Brindisi headquarters of the Italian employer’s federation, Confindustria, to the national and local trade union secretariats, according to the June 11 reports.

Petronas buys out Aramco stake in Malaysian refining, petchems JV

State-owned Petronas Bhd. (Kuala Lumpur) has completed the acquisition of Saudi Aramco’s equity stakes in their refining and petrochemicals joint venture Pengerang Refining Co. Sdn. Bhd. and Pengerang Petrochemical Co. Sdn. Bhd. (PRefChem), which becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas, both companies said in a statement May 25. The deal for PRefChem, located within the Pengerang Integrated Complex at Johor, is subject to customary closing conditions, it said.
