Flood watch issued for Kirksville region through Thursday morning

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued a flood watch for Adair County and five surrounding counties, warning that excessive rainfall could trigger flash flooding starting Wednesday afternoon. The watch, which went into effect at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday, will remain in place through Thursday morning. It covers Adair, Schuyler, Putnam, Sullivan, Macon and Linn counties, affecting communities including Kirksville, Unionville, Milan, Macon, Lancaster and Brookfield.

Adair County commissioners assist residents with SB-190 senior tax credit applications

Adair County commissioners took their duties out of the courthouse and into the community on Tuesday, setting up shop at the NEMO Senior Services Nutrition Center to help local residents navigate the application process for the SB-190 senior tax credit. The commission held its regular morning meeting at the courthouse at 8:30 a.m. before relocating to the nutrition center at 2815 N.

The historic downtown square traded its usual traffic for a tapestry of color, sound and community spirit this past Friday as the city hosted its 12th annual Downtown Art Walk. Organized by the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce, the event transformed the downtown district into an open-air gallery in the early evening of June 5. During the two-hour window, the streets served as a bridge between residents, visitors and the creative forces shaping local culture.
