Tesla is recalling more than 20,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles after U.S. regulators rejected the automaker’s request to treat a headlight compliance issue as inconsequential to vehicle safety. The problem involves low-beam headlamps supplied by Marelli Automotive Lighting. Tesla has admitted that light intensity can exceed regulatory limits in portions of the beam pattern, specifically the outer upper-left and outer upper-right areas.

Hyundai is about to enter vehicle segments it has largely avoided in North America as part of a US$26-billion investment program that could substantially change its lineup on the continent by 2030. CEO Jose Muñoz said at Hyundai’s general shareholder meeting in March that the automaker intends to introduce 36 new or significantly upgraded vehicles by the end of the decade.
