The Miami Dolphins made one of the savvier picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, capitalizing on their second first-round selection from the Jaylen Waddle trade to nab San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson. At first pass, this felt like the simplest plug-and-play scenario ever. Miami is awful at cornerback. New head coach Jeff Hafley specializes in secondary play. He obviously signed off on drafting Johnson to be his boundary CB1 of the future.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis and the organization that has hitched their wagon to him (for now) will find out fast just how much punishment, losing, and misery he can withstand on a football field. It was rather cruel of the new Dolphins leadership of GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley to bring Willis aboard in free agency, only to trade his WR1, Jaylen Waddle, straight away. That left the likes of diminutive slot receiver Malik Washington as Willis' go-to target.

The Miami Dolphins took their fair share of bold swings in the 2026 NFL Draft in amassing a huge 13-player rookie class. Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez didn't address a totally obvious position of need, but the second-rounder was nevertheless a savvy investment by GM Jon-Eric Sullivan. This is not a one-year rebuild in Miami. We're talking at least a couple of seasons before this puppy turns around.
