Deep in the Cederberg mountains about a 4-hour drive from Cape Town, the freestone tributaries of the Oliphants system have been under threat from invasive species for quite some time, but in one particular stream the natives – Clanwilliam yellowfish – are making a comeback. When I think of yellowfish in general, the picture of rubber -ipped smallies or dragon-sized largies is hard to ignore – big specimens that could put a real bend in any rod.
