AUSTIN (Nexstar) — Summer camp operators in Texas’ Hill Country were on high alert for severe flooding Wednesday and Thursday. This week’s flooding has had striking similarities to the catastrophic floods on July 4, 2025, which topped the banks of many of the same rivers. That storm took the lives of at least 138 people, 119 of which were in Kerr County. At Camp Mystic, near Hunt, Texas, 25 girls and two counselors died during the flood.

KERR COUNTY (KXAN) — The Texas legislature could consider additional funding to help pay for outdoor warning sirens, according to the author of a bill signed into law last year requiring them in 30 at-risk areas. This comes following concerns raised by Travis and Kerr counties that the $50 million already allocated may not be enough.
