TEXAS (KTVT) — Saturday marked one year since floods ripped through Texas’ Hill Country region, claiming 137 lives and leaving behind devastation in the wake of the waters. The flash floods remain the second-deadliest flood disaster in state history, with the Thrall flood of 1921 still the most devastating at 215 deaths. Since then, communities have stayed on the path to rebuilding homes and businesses impacted by the storm.

Deputy burned by fireworks during street takeover in northwest Miami-Dade, sheriff's office says

An investigation is underway after the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said a deputy was hurt by a firework while responding to an illegal street takeover overnight. MDSO said it happened just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday along Northwest 77 Court and Northwest 169 Street. The office said the deputy tried to take someone into custody, but another person threw a live firework at the deputy. The firework's explosion, the office said, burned the deputy's hand.

Man fatally shot in Fort Lauderdale parking garage overnight, police say

Fort Lauderdale Police are investigating after a man was found fatally shot inside a parking garage early Sunday morning. The department said they responded to the garage along Southwest 2 Street around 4:30 a.m. They arrived and said they found the man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but later died of his injuries. As of publication, the man has not been publicly identified.
