Is There Anything Beautiful About Hitting Rock Bottom?
When I was 20 years old, I moved to Los Angeles to pastor a church. It all happened because a big bank was going to take possession of a little church born out of the Azusa Street Revival, and my dad wasn’t about to let that happen. So while he searched for a real pastor, he asked me to step in. He gave me ten of his best sermons to memorize and promised I’d only have to stay in the job for three months. Now, I’m approaching age 50, and I’m still waiting for the real pastor to show up.

I've Had My Dreams Crushed in LA, But Here's the Secret to Success
It’s hard to fathom that I’ve been ministering in Los Angeles since 1994. If you can believe it, the same year that Forrest Gump, Lion King, and Shawshank Redemption were released, I began a wild journey here in southern California. On a more somber note, fuel back in 1994 was on average only $1.09 per gallon, and you could get a dozen eggs for 86 cents.

What is Truth? - The Stream
By Erick Erickson Published on April 11, 2023 Two thousand years ago, a group of men flogged Truth to within an inch of its life then nailed Truth to a cross, hoisted the cross in the air and killed Truth. Three days later, Truth came out of the grave. Even secular historians consider Good Friday one of the, if not the, most important events in human history. Truth came in the form of Jesus.
The Same Power That Rolled the Stone Away is Available to Us Today

But on the third day, the resurrection power of Christ was revealed. Jesus emerged from the grave, conquering sin and death — exactly as he said he would. As a result of this miracle two thousand years ago, we have a new lease on life, and we no longer have to fear death.

Jesus Christ’s Resurrection, the Best-Documented Event of Ancient History, is True for All Time
By Scott Powell Published on April 5, 2023 While Christmas — the birth date of the messiah, Jesus Christ — marks the watershed of splitting calendar history into two epochs, B.C. and A.D., Easter marks the day that transformed the world forever. Matthew Barnett: Lessons I've Learned From 28 Years of Inner-City Ministry in LA
Read Time: 3 Minutes 51 Seconds When I was just 20 years old arriving in the city of Los Angeles, it was unbelievable what I saw.
