Abstract Emerging evidence suggests that Parkinson’s disease (PD) may have its origin in the enteric nervous system (ENS), from where α-synuclein (αS) pathology spreads to the brain1,2,3,4. Decades before the onset of motor symptoms, patients with PD suffer from constipation and present with circulating T cells responsive to αS, suggesting that peripheral immune responses initiated in the ENS may be involved in the early stages of PD1,5,6,7.

New work from three artists coming to Liverpool gallery

The artists have contributed to the current ‘Just Browsing' exhibition at the Bluecoat Gallery in the city centre, which features work from 11 other artists. The popular exhibition has been extended until April 12, so audiences will have further time to experience the stunning artwork.

Abstract Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is an inherited skeletal myopathy with no cure. Expression of the myotoxic transcription factor double homeobox 4 (DUX4) is believed to underlie FSHD pathogenesis and many proposed therapies target DUX4 generation or function. Which of these therapies will be the most effective is unclear.
