Chlorophyll extremes during a surface marine heatwave in a seasonally stratified shelf sea
Abstract Marine heatwaves are increasing in frequency and intensity globally against a background of long-term climate warming, yet their impacts on subsurface biogeochemistry in temperate shelf seas remain poorly constrained. Here, we present high-resolution in situ observations of chlorophyll during a Category IV marine heatwave in June 2023, collected using an autonomous ocean glider in a seasonally stratified shelf sea.

Spatial atlas of diabetic kidney disease reveals a B cell-rich subgroup
|
Abstract Diabetic kidney disease (DKD), the leading cause of kidney failure, is marked by clinical and molecular heterogeneity, making therapeutic development exceedingly difficult1. Here we used Xenium and CosMx single-cell spatial transcriptomics, integrated with single-nucleus RNA sequencing, to build a cross-platform kidney atlas that makes tissue architecture computable for prognosis, non-invasive detection and patient selection.

Capital Gains: Effects of Word Class and Sentence Position on Capitalization Use Across Age

Zebra Bodies in Kidney Biopsy: Drug-Induced Phospholipidosis in a Patient With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Zebra bodies, or myeloid bodies, are made up of concentric, lamellated lipid-containing deposits within lysosomes. Although these structures are commonly associated with Fabry disease, similar inclusions can also occur with exposure to certain medications, leading to a condition known as drug-induced phospholipidosis (DIP). A 31-year-old female patient with a history of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), lupus nephritis, and a kidney transplant was admitted for treatment of endocarditis.

2025's Most Overweight and Obese Cities in the U.S.
Americans are among the most overweight populations in the world — and it’s not just a stereotype. Statistically, nearly 42 percent of U.S. adults are classified as obese. This staggering figure isn’t all that surprising given the widespread availability of fast food and cheap, unhealthy grocery items that have reshaped our diets over the past few decades. But the issue isn’t just about health — it’s hitting Americans hard financially, too.

She speaks fluent Kyrgyz and has strong ties to the people and culture—but not to its dictatorial government. She blames president-for-life Nuran Eraliev for the murders of her parents, and naturally she hates him for it.
