Just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning, firefighters were called to the old Pfizer headquarters at 235 East 42nd Street after receiving reports about bricks falling from the 37-story high-rise. City officials later said that no bricks had in fact fallen, but it turned out the situation was much more dire than loose construction debris. Officials found a pair of support beams on the 21st floor had begun to buckle, while several upper floors were caving in.
