How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

By someone who knows what I write. I've never done soft-focus product launches and won't start now.

Why did you become a journalist?

After failing to crack the diplomatic corp, I realised writing for payment was better than staying at university where you pay to write.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

If you want to follow the money, follow it into PR.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

"Do you have PGP? I have something on one of your frequent fliers."
