Max Walker’s Biography

Born and raised in Arizona. Third generation Missouri Tiger, though first from the J-School. I moved to Iowa for my first job as a morning show producer at KCRG-TV9, the ABC affiliate in Cedar Rapids.

While there I had the fortune of working with some incredibly talented anchors, reporters, photojournalists and production staff. There's nothing quite like dealing with major breaking local or national news and only having a skeleton crew to track it down.

While on the morning show, we were nominated for Upper Midwest Region local TV Emmys for best morning newscast (based on market size) in 2013 and 2014. I was fortunate enough to be part of the team that won the 2015 Upper Midwest Region Emmy for weekend newscast.

In the Spring of 2014, I moved from being a TV producer over to the digital team to better align with both my interests and what I studied in school. That put me in charge of posting wire stories, writing and reporting on breaking news and formatting reporter stories to KCRG.com and TheGazette.com, including any extras like charts or maps. Decisions about sharing stories on social media and mobile app notifications were also mine.

With the sale of KCRG to Gray Television in September 2015, I have since shed my posting responsibilities for The Cedar Rapids Gazette. I'm excited about what the future can bring in a corporate structure that lives and breathes TV news every day.
