What was your first job as a journalist?
A local TV morning show reporter.

I used an IBM Selectric once. Does that count?
How is social media changing news?
It has already changed how major news organizations report, present & distribute. Pro: instantaneous coverage. Con: clickbait headlines.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
These days? Just be a person with a smartphone.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email. I've received only one pitch via social media.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter is my particular kind of drug, but Facebook is king when it comes to where the users are and determining what's important for traffic.
Who do you wish followed you?
People who think I'm cool. Because that's the point of the Internet.
Why did you become a journalist?
Because the adrenaline rush of breaking news and just being in a newsroom is like nothing else in the world.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Know at least a little bit of code, enough to do rudimentary troubleshooting on why an iframe isn't working.
