Abstract The effect of the cation in pure salts (n-CyH2y+1)4ClO4 (y = 3, 4) and in composites based on them with highly dispersed nanodiamonds (specific surface area 300 ± 20 m2/g) has been studied using X-ray diffraction analysis (including high-temperature X-ray diffraction analysis), differential scanning calorimetry and impedance spectroscopy. Pure salts undergo 2 (n-C3H7)4ClO4 at 173 ºC and 178 ºC) or 1 (n-C4H9)4ClO4 at 60 ºC) solid–solid phase transitions.

On December 1, 2024, an outstanding scientist, Editorial Board member of the Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry, Prof. Robert Schöllhorn passed away. Robert Schöllhorn, born in 1935, received an excellent education in organic chemistry at renowned universities in Germany (University of Heidelberg (PhD, 1963), University of Bonn). However, his curiosity, determination, and enthusiasm more than once led him to drastically change his scientific interests.

Abstract The series of O3-type high-entropy layered oxides NaxTi0.2Mn0.2Fe0.2Co0.2Ni0.2O2 were prepared by the mechanochemically assisted solid-state synthesis and studied as cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. The effect of sodium excess (0, 10, and 20%) on electrochemical performance was investigated. It has shown that the addition of 10 or 20% excess sodium leads to a deterioration in rate performance despite a slight increase in specific capacity at low cycling rates (below 2C).
