Michigan State University has named an interim athletic director following J Batt's departure from East Lansing. Jon Palumbo will step into the position immediately after Batt finalized a deal to become the athletic director at the University of Kentucky. Palumbo is not a new face inside Spartan Athletics. He joined Michigan State in July 2025 and works as the university's executive deputy athletic director, chief operating officer, and CEO of Spartan Ventures.

The Air Park Speedway in Fennville lasted about ten years, but those who were around back then have great memories of this track. In the beginning, the Douglas Airport (known as the Saugatuck-Douglas Airport) opened in the mid-1940s by husband and wife pilots Harl and Lucille Schneider. Before Michigan claims this as "ours," the 2.9-magnitude earthquake happened under southern Lake Michigan, roughly 12 miles east-northeast of Kenilworth, Illinois.

A former University of Michigan football staffer is suing the school over records connected to the investigation into former head coach Sherrone Moore. Paige Shiver, who previously worked as Moore’s executive assistant, filed a lawsuit in Washtenaw County Court. Her attorneys say the university improperly denied several public records requests between February and June. Those requests were tied to the investigation that led to Moore being fired in December.

The village of Omard, now considered a ghost town, can be found at the intersection of Peck Rd and Isles Rd, Flynn Township, in Sanilac County. It was mostly a postal service, but it also had a general store, church, schoolhouse and blacksmith shop. Omard's first building was a schoolhouse, erected in 1869 at the same time Flynn Township was established. The township was named after Thomas Flynn, who ended up becoming the first township supervisor.

Explorers and archaeologists have been searching for this ship for the last few centuries, hoping to solve the mystery. The Le Griffon, named after its figurehead of a griffon (half eagle, half lion), was the first full-size cargo ship to sail the Great Lakes. It set off from the Niagara River at Lake Erie, transporting goods through the waters until it reached what is now Lake Michigan.
