MSU President Stays In East Lansing With $1.5 Million Deal

Michigan State University President Kevin Guskiewicz is staying in East Lansing, and now we know what the new deal looks like. According to the contract released by MSU, Guskiewicz’s agreement now runs through March 4, 2031. Starting August 1, his annual base salary will move up to $1.5 million. That is an increase from just over $1 million a year. There are a few other pieces in the contract, too. Guskiewicz will have access to a university vehicle and driver for official MSU business.

With a bit of a surprise turn from Michigan State University President Kevin Guskiewicz, it turns out he is not leaving East Lansing after all. Guskiewicz had previously announced in May that he planned to leave MSU to become the next president of Clemson University in South Carolina. Now, after several weeks of discussion, questions and some uncertainty, he says he is staying with Michigan State.
