This Week…Comfort Food For My Neighbor These past few weeks, I’ve been taking a meal or muffins to our neighbor who is ill. I know his wife, Pat, is a great cook, but she’s tired and has more on her mind than what’s for dinner. While searching for an easy casserole (because they’re easier to share), I found one I hadn't made in many years. Grandma’s Hamburger Casserole is one I’m sure has passed through many families in as many different forms. As with most savory dishes, nothing is set in stone.
What Is Title Insurance and Do I Need It?
What Is Title Insurance and Do I Need It? By Adam Chubbuck, Team Leader, Team Alpha Charlie of Douglas Realty. Retired U.S. Navy Chief. Licensed in Maryland and Virginia. At some point in your closing paperwork, someone will ask whether you want an owner's title insurance policy. It costs money. It sounds optional. It is easy to say no. Here is what it actually is and why I tell my clients to buy it. Every other kind of insurance protects against something that might happen in the future.
Kissing Lanais: Would This Bother You?
If you’ve spent any time looking at homes in The Villages, you may have heard the term “kissing lanais.” It’s certainly not an official real estate term, but people here know exactly what it means. Basically, it’s when the lanai on one house backs up pretty darn close to the lanai on the house behind it. You may be sitting outside having your morning coffee while your neighbor is sitting just a short distance away doing the same thing. For some people it’s no big deal.
What makes a good Realtor? #yourValleyProperty Team
What makes a good Realtor? Knowledgeable...about real estate, about the area you want to look in, and about your specific needs. Accessible...responds to your phone calls or emails, is willing to work around your schedule. Ready to help YOU first, make the sale second...sure, Realtors make their living on commissions from the sale of houses, but if they help you get what YOU want, they will then get what THEY want.
This Past Week...Before It Even Hit The Market
This past week, we got an advance notice about a Port Jefferson house that was about to be listed with another agent. We immediately called our buyers. They jumped in the car and went to see it. The location was beautiful with water views, a cul-de-sac and a great setting. But the house needed significant work, and our buyers weren’t convinced it was the right opportunity. They’re still thinking about it. And that’s real estate. Having buyers ready doesn’t mean they’ll buy every house.

Opelika Homes for Sale: What Buyers Notice First
Opelika homes for sale can surprise buyers with something they notice almost immediately when they begin touring: space. Depending on the neighborhood, age of the home, and price range, buyers may discover larger rooms, comfortable layouts, generous yards, or simply more breathing room than they expected. I especially see the value of comparison when buyers are looking in both Auburn and Opelika. Sometimes a buyer starts the search convinced that Auburn is where they want to live.
Auburn Neighborhoods: Walkable Location or More Land?
Auburn neighborhoods can offer very different lifestyles, and one of the biggest decisions when buying a home in Auburn, Alabama, may be surprisingly simple: Would you rather be closer to everything, or would you rather have more land? For many buyers, especially those moving to Auburn from another city or state, this question can help narrow the home search quickly.

Fit For The Job
While everyone I know can push a button not everyone I know would be fit to push the button that launches a missal that may rain down destruction on others. Image being in your 20's sitting in a hole 3 stories down in the ground waiting for the President to tell you to push the button. Not a job for everyone. The cartoon above was written for and inspired by and article in The Northern Sentry News Paper, the official news paper of The Minot Air Force Base.
