Films that combine elements of horror and drama just hit differently. They flip the script by killing off characters we deeply care about, rather than offing two-dimensional caricatures whose imminent demise we’re rooting for. Such pictures are devastating to endure, leaving a profound impact that resonates indefinitely. Hereditary is a great example of an utterly crushing horror/drama hybrid. It rocked me to my core and still haunts me to this day.
