KITV4 Island News has a long tradition of being the voice of the Islands. The station first went on the air in 1954. From the beginning we have been providing important news, entertainment, sports information. Today, KITV4 Island News produces 30+ hours per week of local news programming. We start early starting with Good Morning Hawaii at 4:30 a.m. weekdays. We were the first in the market to produce a Midday Newscast. Our evening line-up begins with our newscast at 5 p.m., then an hour at 6 p.m., and a comprehensive nightly report at 10 p.m. on KITV4 Island News Tonight. On the weekends, KITV4 is the only station that provides a weekend morning newscast (both Saturday and Sunday) with Good Morning Hawaii from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. On Saturdays we have news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. On Sundays, we have news at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
As an ABC affiliate, KITV4 is proud to include the network line up of entertainment programming, World News Tonight, and live sporting events.
KITV4 is a major supporter of the community, bringing to air many local events, and sponsoring great causes that benefit the people of Hawaii. Most recently, a simple call to action raised almost $70,000 for Helping Hands Hawaii to distribute to families struggling to keep food on the table during the pandemic -- all money coming from our generous viewers in just a few weeks. KAILUA, Hawaii (Island News) -- The Honolulu Medical Examiner has identified the man killed in a shooting near the Kailua Fall Festival Saturday night as 30-year-old Thomas C. Malone of Kaneohe. Malone died from a gunshot wound to the neck. His death was ruled a homicide. According to the Honolulu Police Department, two groups were arguing at the Kailua Fall Festival when the argument moved into the Target parking lot at 345 Hahani Street. Police say someone then pulled out a firearm and shot Malone.

Kaimuki neighbors try to stop the stench at abandoned Happy Days Chinese Seafood Restaurant
KAIMUKI, Hawaii (Island News) -- Aimee Pang could not handle the foul smell permeating through a now abandoned Chinese restaurant in Kaimuki. "The smell yes could be a danger to the public's health as well," she said. The roof collapsed more than a month ago at Happy Days Chinese Seafood Restaurant and neighbors said they can still smell the stench of rotting animals from blocks away. "It smells like death," said nearby restaurant worker Melia Kekauoha.

HPD seeks public videos, photos in fatal Kailua shooting investigation
HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is seeking photos or videos from the public to assist in the active investigation of a fatal shooting that took place in Kailua over the weekend. “The Homicide Detail thanks everyone who has provided surveillance footage from the Kailua Fall Festival,” HPD stated.
Caleb Flynn’s defense rests without calling any witnesses in his murder trial
(CNN) — The prosecution and defense rested Monday in the murder trial of Caleb Flynn, the former “American Idol” contestant accused of killing his wife and staging the crime scene. The prosecution called 40 witnesses over seven days of testimony, while the defense did not call any witnesses. Closing arguments are set for Tuesday morning.
New York prosecutors reopen investigation after student files lawsuit over alleged gang rape at Cornell University
(CNN) — Prosecutors in New York are reopening an investigation into an alleged gang rape of a former Cornell University student after the woman filed a civil lawsuit this month claiming the school did not do enough to protect her. A grand jury will review the case to see if any charges are warranted after the original investigation into the alleged 2024 assault resulted in no criminal charges, Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten said Monday.
