KITV4 Island News has a long tradition of being the voice of the Islands. The station first went on the air in 1954. From the beginning we have been providing important news, entertainment, sports information. Today, KITV4 Island News produces 30+ hours per week of local news programming. We start early starting with Good Morning Hawaii at 4:30 a.m. weekdays. We were the first in the market to produce a Midday Newscast. Our evening line-up begins with our newscast at 5 p.m., then an hour at 6 p.m., and a comprehensive nightly report at 10 p.m. on KITV4 Island News Tonight. On the weekends, KITV4 is the only station that provides a weekend morning newscast (both Saturday and Sunday) with Good Morning Hawaii from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. On Saturdays we have news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. On Sundays, we have news at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
As an ABC affiliate, KITV4 is proud to include the network line up of entertainment programming, World News Tonight, and live sporting events.
KITV4 is a major supporter of the community, bringing to air many local events, and sponsoring great causes that benefit the people of Hawaii. Most recently, a simple call to action raised almost $70,000 for Helping Hands Hawaii to distribute to families struggling to keep food on the table during the pandemic -- all money coming from our generous viewers in just a few weeks. HONOLULU (Island News) -- A single-car crash where a vehicle launched from a parking structure in Downtown Honolulu led to one fatality on Friday, according to Honolulu Emergency Services (EMS). The car apparently drove the wrong way in the parking structure and launched from a building at Bishop Street and S. Hotel Street, Honolulu Emergency Services Department Director James Ireland reported. The car landed on its roof in the business district at around 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.
Woman dies after car falls from Downtown Honolulu parking garage
HONOLULU (Island News) -- An 80-year-old woman is dead after her car fell from a parking garage in Downtown Honolulu on Friday afternoon, landing upside down along Hotel Street. The crash happened at the Executive Centre, where witnesses described hearing a loud noise before seeing the vehicle fall from the garage. “We were just going about our day like usual, and then all of a sudden we hear a crash,” said Alan Sy, a security guard who witnessed the incident.

Power restored to over 1,100 Hawaiian Electric customers in Nānākuli after outage
NANAKULI, Hawai'i (Island News) -- More than 1,100 Hawaiian Electric customers in Nānākuli were without power for two hours on Friday morning. Hawaiian Electric reported the outage began at approximately 9:30 a.m. Friday, affecting 1,162 customers. Power was restored to all customers by 11:30 a.m. The cause of the outage was not identified by the electric company. Customers can check the utility's website for updates on the outage and restoration efforts.

Powerful earthquake shakes Panama, followed by large aftershocks
(CNN) — A major earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.7 has struck southern Panama, according to the US Geological Survey. Several people have suffered minor injuries but so far there are no reports of fatalities or missing persons, officials said. Various homes, roads, hotels, government buildings, businesses and churches have sustained structural damage, according to the civil protection system. The USGS had said some casualties were possible and extensive damage was probable.
