KITV4 Island News has a long tradition of being the voice of the Islands. The station first went on the air in 1954. From the beginning we have been providing important news, entertainment, sports information. Today, KITV4 Island News produces 30+ hours per week of local news programming. We start early starting with Good Morning Hawaii at 4:30 a.m. weekdays. We were the first in the market to produce a Midday Newscast. Our evening line-up begins with our newscast at 5 p.m., then an hour at 6 p.m., and a comprehensive nightly report at 10 p.m. on KITV4 Island News Tonight. On the weekends, KITV4 is the only station that provides a weekend morning newscast (both Saturday and Sunday) with Good Morning Hawaii from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. On Saturdays we have news at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. On Sundays, we have news at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
As an ABC affiliate, KITV4 is proud to include the network line up of entertainment programming, World News Tonight, and live sporting events.
KITV4 is a major supporter of the community, bringing to air many local events, and sponsoring great causes that benefit the people of Hawaii. Most recently, a simple call to action raised almost $70,000 for Helping Hands Hawaii to distribute to families struggling to keep food on the table during the pandemic -- all money coming from our generous viewers in just a few weeks. Moped driver, 51, dies after crash in Haleiwa
HALEIWA, Hawaii (Island News) – A moped driver died after sustaining critical injuries in a Wednesday morning crash in Haleiwa. The collision occurred at approximately 11:23 a.m. on Kamehameha Hwy when a 51-year-old moped driver was headed northbound on the highway, when for unknown reasons, he traveled to the right of the roadway and lost control. As a result of the collision, the 51-year-old man was ejected onto the unimproved shoulder area.
Man arrested for Murder after fatal stabbing on Ke’eaumoku Street
HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is investigating an apparent stabbing that turned deadly on Thursday morning in Honolulu. Police initiated an attempted murder investigation after officers responded to a stabbing on Ke’eaumoku St. at approximately 7:11 a.m. The Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene to treat a man believed to be in his 50s to 60s. Paramedics treated the man for a critical stab wound.
