Astros place RHP Mike Burrows (elbow) on injured list
The Houston Astros reversed Mike Burrows’ recent option to the minor leagues and placed the right-hander on the 15-day injured Monday list with right elbow neuritis. The move is retroactive to last Tuesday, the day Burrows was sent down and one day after he allowed 10 runs (seven earned) over 4 1/3 innings against the Washington Nationals. Houston initially optioned him to Triple-A Sugar Land, but the assignment was nullified because of the elbow issue. A timetable for a return was not indicated.
Former Jayhawks player facing attempted murder charge
Former Kansas basketball player Lagerald Vick was charged with attempted first-degree murder in Tennessee. Vick, 29, was a guard for the Jayhawks from 2015-19 and started for coach Bill Self’s 2018 Final Four squad. He was arrested in Memphis on Saturday in connection with a July 4 shooting in the city and was also charged with using a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
Reds place LHP Nick Lodolo (finger blister) on 15-day injured list
The Cincinnati Reds placed starting pitcher Nick Lodolo on the 15-day injured list on Sunday because of a blister on his left index finger. In a corresponding move, the Reds recalled rookie right-hander Chase Petty from Triple-A Louisville. Finger blisters have been an issue for Lodolo, who exited Saturday’s 5-3 loss to the visiting Chicago Cubs after allowing Carson Kelly’s leadoff homer in the sixth inning.
Oilers bring back F Colton Dach on 2-year contract
The Edmonton Oilers signed restricted free agent Colton Dach to a two-year, $2.4 million contract on Sunday. The 23-year-old forward had nine points (three goals, six assists), a minus-15 rating, 47 penalty minutes, 27 blocks and 189 hits in 53 games for the Chicago Blackhawks last season before he was traded on March 4 with forward Jason Dickinson to the Oilers for forward Andrew Mangiapane and a conditional 2027 first-round draft pick.

Both benches cleared in the seventh inning after Alexander was hit by a 95-mph fastball from Royals right-hander Lucas Erceg, who said after the Orioles’ 8-2 victory that hitting him with the inside pitch, the seventh in the at-bat, was not intentional.

Report: Warriors to hire Frank Vogel as associate head coach
The Golden State Warriors are adding Frank Vogel to their bench to serve as the associate head coach to Steve Kerr, ESPN reported Sunday. Vogel, who coached the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA title in 2020, takes over for Terry Stotts, who left Golden State’s staff along with Jerry Stackhouse after the 2025-26 season. Vogel, 53, spent last season as an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks.
