JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - A convicted defendant’s attempt to challenge his murder case has been denied leaving the original conviction and sentence in place. Years after a jury delivered its verdict, the Holly Bobo case was back before a judge. Zach Adams, who was convicted in 2017 of murder, kidnapping, and aggravated rape of a nursing student, filed a petition in 2023 claiming ineffective counsel.

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - Miss Tennessee Volunteer contestants gathered at the DoubleTree Hotel on Monday for a luncheon hosted by the Old Hickory Rotary Club ahead of this week’s pageant competition. Contestants and Rotarians mingled over a catered meal before the pageant director and current Miss Tennessee Volunteer, Meghan Poore, delivered remarks. Each contestant was also given an opportunity to introduce herself at the end of the event.

The incoming teachers span elementary, middle and high school grade levels, as well as specialty positions. Phishing generated the most complaints, but investment scams accounted for the largest financial losses, costing victims approximately $8.7 billion. AI-driven scams and sextortion on the rise The FBI also warned about sextortion cases targeting teenage boys and sophisticated cryptocurrency scams driven by artificial intelligence.

HENNING, Tenn. (WBBJ) - A person was found dead Monday morning in Henning, and investigators believe the death may be the result of an animal attack, according to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 7:12 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to the area of 655 S. Church Street after receiving a report of a deceased individual. Investigators observed injuries believed to be consistent with an animal attack. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the official cause and manner of death.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man is behind bars, accused of making a threat to commit a mass shooting. Jason Arrington, 21, was arrested Friday after a woman said he texted her, saying he was going to go to Temple Israel, where he worked, with a rifle and “shoot the Jews.” Arrington also allegedly told her that he was going to go to Crosstown Concourse and start shooting people, “until the police kill him.” Jason Arrington Arrington was arrested and charged with making a threat of mass violence.

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - A Jackson chiropractor had his license temporarily suspended Monday by the Tennessee Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Steven F. Cox, owner of AERO Mind and Body, has been accused of sexually assaulting a patient. According to the complaint, Cox did not allow anyone else inside the room while performing the examination and carried out exams that did not correlate with the informational materials shown before continuing with treatment.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - The mother accused of shooting a man to death after finding him in her daughter’s bedroom appeared in a Tennessee court Monday morning. On July 16, 36-year-old Kendra Scott was taken into custody after a man was found dead at the scene of a shooting in the Walker Homes neighborhood in Memphis.

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday night at Savannah Williamson Park, located at 152 Neely Station Road in Denmark, Tennessee. At approximately 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received several 911 calls reporting that shots were fired at Savannah Williamson Park. Deputies, emergency medical personnel, and fire personnel responded immediately to the scene.

The Rev. Al Sharpton was scheduled to officiate the funeral, with a call to justice delivered by the family’s lawyer, Ben Crump, a prominent civil rights attorney.
