DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - A Danville mother says her family is still struggling weeks after someone drained the SNAP benefits they rely on to buy groceries. “I don’t think it’s fair. It’s not fair to anybody, and it’s definitely not fair to my family,” Isabella Cruz said. Cruz told WDBJ7 she discovered her July benefits were gone, leaving her trying to stretch other resources to support her household. “That’s the struggle we have to figure out what to do for the rest of the month,” Cruz said.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - A Tennessee toddler was found dead Monday morning after he was taken by his biological father without permission. Memphis police said the boy’s father was taken into custody while officers continued to investigate what led up to 3-year-old Joseph Martinez’s death. Officials have not confirmed a cause of death and the boy’s father has not been criminally charged.

POLK COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB/Gray News) - A central Nebraska coach and former educator died in a crash Monday, officials said. Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig said the crash happened just after 6 a.m. on Highway 92, about 8 miles west of Osceola. Polk County dispatch received a 911 call about a pickup that struck an ATV east of the F Road intersection.

ODESSA, Texas (KOSA/Gray News) - Odessa police are working to identify a man found dead inside a clothes donation box last Friday at 8th Street and Coleman Avenue. Investigators say no signs of foul play were found. An autopsy has been ordered. A neighbor who lives on Coleman Avenue said he had smelled a strong odor for weeks before police arrived. He initially assumed the victim was a child or infant because he could not imagine an adult fitting inside the box’s small opening.
