City of Rochester files petition to vacate Pallet Express warehouse on Lyell Avenue after five-alarm fire
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The city of Rochester filed a petition to the state Supreme Court in Monroe County last Thursday, asking for a warehouse to be vacated after a major fire there two months ago. The petition targets the Pallet Express warehouse on Lyell Avenue, which was the site of a five-alarm fire in June. The city says the warehouse poses a fire and safety risk.
Police: Minor crash leads to gas station fight, DWI arrest on Culver Road
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say they had to break up a fight at a gas station on Culver Road after a minor crash. Officers say it was around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when they got a call for a group of around 10 people fighting at gas station on Culver Road near University Avenue. Officers broke up the fight and learned it started after a minor crash at a different location. Officers said after the crash, both parties drove to that gas station parking lot and started fighting.
Car carrying mom and 4 children flips in Parma near Hilton Parma Corners Road
PARMA, N.Y. — A car with a mom and four children inside flipped overnight Tuesday in Parma. The single-car crash happened just before midnight near Hilton Parma Corners Road. News10NBC spoke with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at the scene. Some of the people were trapped in the car and emergency responders had to help them out. Five ambulances responded to the scene. Deputies said some suffered broken bones and bruises, but everyone is expected to recover.
Rochester Police investigate shots fired on Conkey Avenue Monday evening
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police blocked off part of a Rochester neighborhood for an investigation into shots fired Monday night. It happened at around 6 p.m. Monday on Conkey Avenue near Hooker Street. Investigators looked for signs of a shooting, bu say they did not find anyone or anything hit by a bullet. Rochester nonprofit Operation Caring Hearts delivers pizzas to homeless shelters, encampments amid city sweeps
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Operation Caring Hearts teamed up with two local companies to donate entire pizza pies to anyone in need. Rebecca Mearns with Operation Caring Hearts filled her car with more than 100 pizzas and gave them away to many within the unhoused community over the course of the evening. Salvatore’s Pizza of Churchville donated the pies, and Vision Hyundai donated the car, a new Hyundai Tucson. “She’s truly making a difference, which is why she won this Tucson to begin with.
Barn fire in Wyoming County kills 100 chickens and 3 goats: Barn deemed total loss
PERRY, N.Y. — 100 chickens and three goats died in a barn fire in Perry over the weekend, according to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services. It happened just before 7 a.m. Sunday on Route 246 in Perry. The fire department was on scene for around six hours. Officials say the fire resulted in $100,000 in damages, and the barn was deemed a total loss. They also say a house nearby had significant heat damage that resulted in melted siding, but the home is still livable.
