ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our Yellow Alert will continue into evening hours as the winds remain elevated, but the worst is behind us. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph on Thursday brought down trees and power lines, with more than 20,000 RG&E customers in Monroe County alone losing power during the peak of the strong winds. The good news is the worst is behind us, and the winds will continue to ease up through the rest of the evening and overnight. Our Yellow Alert will be allowed to expire as the sun sets.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert goes into effect overnight and will last through Thursday early evening. Our primary weather threat will be wind, but this may also be a two part event. First, we’re going to focus on the leftover storms from the Midwest. These will move into our area after midnight. While these will be much weaker, there may be enough energy leftover for a few gusty storms and downpours.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The First Alert Weather team has issued a Yellow Alert for Thursday. This will start just after midnight Wednesday night as leftover storms from the Midwest approach our area. While we don’t anticipate severe storms in our area, we could see some thundery downpours, and some gusty winds. Some of these winds may be just strong enough to produce isolated power outages. The timing of this first round looks to be around 2am – 6am Thursday morning.
