Following a nearly two-year renovation, Napa Valley's Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) will open its new, multimillion-dollar hospitality center on July 13. The extensive project included redesigning two original winemaking buildings that were initially purchased by the founder and owner of BV, Georges de Latour, in 1923. The buildings, located in Rutherford and situated on Highway 29, date to 1885 and 1887.

Wynton Marsalis has long bridged divides: between jazz and classical music, between the club and the concert hall, between tradition and innovation. The prolific trumpeter, composer and bandleader grew up in New Orleans in an intensely musical family. At age 17, he moved to New York City and quickly became a leading voice in jazz and beyond.

Confronted with a summer that has left French vineyards scorched, Célestin Bizet, the winemaker at Sancerre's Lestang 1573, is philosophical. "We are small when confronting nature," he said. "We must persevere and live with the consequences." Since May, France has weathered three extreme heatwaves, and its winemakers are running out of superlatives.
