Steve Dutton is synonymous with grape growing in Sonoma County. The fifth-generation farmer’s Dutton Ranch Corp. farms 1,200 acres of grape vines (750 acres of which he owns) along with another 240 acres of apples, the crop that was king in the area before grape vines became the dominant crop. His parents are partly responsible for that shift. Warren and Gail Dutton bought a 35-acre property near the town of Graton in what is now the Russian River Valley appellation back in 1964.
