Jul 25, 2024 In 1992, the Toscana IGT was introduced in Italy's Tuscany, bridging the gap between the region's highly regulated DOC and DOCG appellations, like Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino, and its less regulated table wine (Vino da Tavola). With more lenient rules, Toscana winemakers were able to use (and blend) international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, in addition to local varieties.
