55% of Philadelphia Businesses Break Plastic Bag Ban
Numerous Philadelphia businesses are not complying with the city's plastic bag ban, according to a new report. A survey of more than 80 Philadelphia businesses by PennEnvironment Research & Policy Center found that 55% violated at least one provision of the city's enhanced plastic bag ban, including failing to charge the required 10-cent bag fee. In addition, more than 20% of establishments continue to provide plastic bags, even though these bags have been illegal since 2019.
