LONDON (AP) — The U.K. has “strong indications” that Iran played a part in the incident that saw five men arrested near a U.S.-run military air base in England late at night, Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Wednesday. Burnham said U.K. and U.S. officials are carrying out a “complex and serious” investigation into how and why five men and three vans were near the perimeter of RAF Fairford, a base that has been used by American bombers striking Iran during this year’s war.

PARIS (AP) — Thirteen people were sentenced to prison terms of up to 10 years on Wednesday in connection with the sinking of a boat in the English Channel nearly five years ago, in one of the biggest tragedies of migrants making the dangerous crossing. A total of 31 migrants, most of whom were Iraqi Kurds, died in November 2021 when their boat sank. Fourteen people, including two who remain at large, had been on trial since Sept. 8. One of them was acquitted.

Punxsutawney Regional Development Corporation (PRDC) has awarded a $647,000 contract to Spiegel Excavating LLC of Edinburg for the demolition and site preparation of the building at 314 Park Ave. The site was home to Wellington Heights Assisted Living Facility for three decades, but the history of the building dates back to 1889.
